The Quality Technician supports the Installation Manager in driving quality standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across all installation activities in Cape Town. Key duties include identifying and analysing improvement opportunities, developing inspection plans and procedures, conducting sample testing, and training field and production teams on quality requirements.

The role also encompasses regular process audits to ensure ongoing compliance and operational excellence. On major projects, the Quality Technician serves as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns and collaborates closely with the Project Manager to maintain rigorous quality assurance from planning through to final handover.

What will you do

  • Document, analyze, perform, and interpret developmental tests for new and/or modified products or components in line with KONE quality policies and procedures.
  • Conduct product and process inspections as directed to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Prepare detailed reports on quality measurements and inspections; accurately record inspection results.
  • Communicate effectively with the Quality Engineer and Production Supervisor regarding quality issues and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform root cause analysis to support the KONE Corrective Action Program.
  • Carry out auditing activities across the full value chain, including customer service, engineering, manufacturing, and logistics.
  • Adhere to and promote the KONE Quality and Environmental Policy, ensuring compliance and fostering awareness among colleagues.
  • Comply with all ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Understand and respect KONE’s significant environmental aspects, contribute to reducing the carbon footprint, and support sustainability goals.

Are you the one

  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant work experience, preferably in the maintenance/quality field.
  • Experience in the elevator and escalator field is preferred.
  • Good technical understanding of designs and solutions that meet customer expectations.
  • Knowledge and experience of manufacturing/operational processes (es) and their continuous improvement through application of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and/or other proven methodologies.
  • Working knowledge to apply basic inspection concepts, techniques, and processes. Able to understand sampling characteristics, types, and select samples from lots.
  • Knowledge of which measurement and test equipment tools are appropriate for various applications and how to assess tool accuracy and precision. Must understand the concept of calibration standards.
  • Identifies the benefits from Quality actions (Customer satisfaction, COT, CoPQ, etc.).
  • Ability to work together as a team and promote a harmonious environment.
  • Excellent English communication.
