Abbott Ireland Diagnostic Division – Longford
Our Longford site plays a central role in meeting global demand for diagnostic testing across infectious disease, cancer, thyroid and cardiovascular health. We are seeking a Quality Team Leader to join our Quality Department. This role supports the delivery of quality, cost, safety, availability and continuous improvement goals through leadership, project execution and team development.
Primary Function
- Drive departmental projects and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve quality, cost and performance targets.
- Develop and monitor quality metrics and support financial planning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support key site projects from planning through implementation, ensuring effective execution and measurable improvements.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment, engagement and effective use of support services.
- Lead a Quality Assurance team within assigned areas such as Validation/Projects, Design Quality, Quality Systems, Change Control or Operations Quality (e.g., MQA/IQA).
- Provide quality leadership for site‑wide continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify and implement improvements within the Quality Assurance function to meet evolving business needs.
- Support resource planning and budgeting for QA‑related activities.
- Develop and train team members to ensure skills and capabilities meet organizational requirements.
- Communicate effectively across the site and wider Abbott network.
- Demonstrate consistent application of the Quality Policy in daily activities.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Full supervisory and management responsibility for assigned Quality Assurance personnel.
Education & Experience
- A third‑level qualification in Chemistry, Life Sciences or a related discipline with a minimum of five years’ experience in a regulated industry.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage cross‑functionally and across sites.
- Effective presentation skills for training and knowledge sharing.
Accountability
- Responsible for initiating, planning and executing assigned projects and improvement initiatives.
- Performance reviewed through periodic goal reviews and annual development discussions.
- Operates with a high level of autonomy and decision‑making authority.
