Quality Supervisor

SUMMARY

The Quality Supervisor position at Filament is one of the building leaders of our small team. This position will have direct oversight of the QA team of 1-3 Inspectors, as well as the overall quality procedures within production. Perform duties in the Quality Inspection area to inspect a wide variety of purchased components from simple to very complex, including machined parts manufactured to very close tolerances. Includes inspection of raw material, verifying material meets industry specifications for chemical analysis, material properties, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure strict adherence to and implementation of Company Safety and Work rules.
  • Review of customer QA requirements, to satisfy OQE including but not limited to FAI, PPAP, and collation of traceability and quality documents
  • Monitor and Maintain Aerospace & Defense customer portals for QA, Engineering, and specification review
  • Conduct Inspection of product and purchased components

+understanding of gaging, calibration, inspection test methods and instruments

+create and maintain all quality methods and procedures for manufacturing and acceptance of product

  • Performs inspection operations in the following areas:
    • Final Inspection
    • Receiving QC Inspection
    • Pre/Post OSP Inspection
    • Peel Test Inspection
  • Secondary Plant Supervision + safety reporting
  • Responsible for creation of nonconformance documentation IE: discrepant material reports (DMRs), summary discrepant material reports (SDMRs) when discrepancies are detected at any inspection stage. Removal of the discrepant material from the production areas
  • Schedule source inspections
  • Generate Certificates of Conformance (C of C’s) per quality standard and customer requirements.
  • Work from engineering drawings, inspection plans, internal instructions and customer documents including specifications, purchase orders and order codes.
  • Set up and use precision measuring equipment and gages.

  • Perform inspection on components and finished assemblies, and document results.
  • Ensure product quality for acceptance.
  • Work with manufacturing and engineering to understand and resolve quality discrepancies.
  • Review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) from suppliers for approval.
  • Work with suppliers on certification issues.
  • Perform Contract Reviews.
  • Monitor vendor performance metrics.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Critical Competencies 

  • Concentrated mental and visual attention required to inspect intricate component parts visually and dimensionally.
  • Concentrated mental and visual attention required to inspect intricate component parts visually and dimensionally. Coordination of a high degree of manual dexterity with close visual attention for sustained periods.
  • Ability to inspect product quality purchased and manufactured components to very close tolerances. Exercise judgment to set up specified precision measuring instruments, inspect for various dimensions and surface quality. Approve or reject items within the limitations of recognized methods and procedures.
  • Understanding of AS9100 requirements and ability to interpret them to our specifics.
  • The ability to pay attention to detail is a must.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quality field (preferably Aerospace)
  • Experience in Microsoft Suite a plus

Compensation is based on experience: $40.00/hr to $50.00/hr
