About the role

The Quality Assurance Specialist is a crucial role for Diageo’s quality assurance, responsible to ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. This role collaborates closely with various function in market and quality related team globally.  Additionally, this position is increasingly important given the growing luxury portfolio that requires more stringent management.

The purpose of this position is to uphold Diageo’s commitment to product excellence by implementing rigorous quality control measures. The Quality Control Specialist ensures that all products are safe, compliant, and meet customer expectations. This role exists to prevent quality issues proactively and maintain the brand’s reputation for high-quality standards.

1. Decision Making Authority

1-1) Decision Expected

  • Validate Classified defective products on-site and make pass/fail judgments through QC test according to Diageo quality standards
  • Confirm immediate corrective actions to address any identified quality issues. 
  • Determine appropriate procedures and responses for quality-related tasks and call center operations

1-2) Recommendations Expected

  • Suggest enhancements to existing quality control processes based on analysis of test results 
  • Recommend training programs to ensure adherence to quality control procedures 
  • Propose changes in raw materials and sourcing based on supplier’s quality performance evaluations.

2. Financial Accountability

Manage and oversee budgets for quality prevention/inspection costs, call center operations, consumer compensation products, and claimed product exchanges

3. Market / Function Complexity

Communicate with the market's Sales, R&CG, Supply team, and Call Center agency regarding quality issues. Collaborate with the Global Quality team to share quality inspection results, claims, and concerns, and receive support and expert technical advice.

4. Strategical Accountability

This role is responsible for developing and implementing quality assurance strategies to ensure product excellence and compliance with Diageo standards. It requires driving continuous improvement initiatives by analysing quality metrics and collaborating with key stakeholders to align quality efforts with business objectives. Additionally, this role addresses customer feedback to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

5. Leadership Responsibilities

The Quality Control Specialist interacts frequently with internal stakeholders’ internal functions as well as external stakeholders like suppliers, 3PL logistics service provider. This plays a key role in influencing these groups to adhere strictly to Diageo’s high-quality standards while fostering collaboration across functions.

Key Tasks / Accountabilities:

Quality inspections and tests (40%)

  • Conducting routine inspections and test to ensure product quality and compliance

Process improvements and corrective actions (30%)

  • Analysing test results and reporting
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams on process improvements

Claim & Call center management (30%)

  • Raise quality-related concerns in the system to resolve issues.
  • Handle claims by arranging exchanges or taking appropriate actions.

What you need to bring to this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in food, quality related field preferred.
  • Certification in Quality Management Systems (QMS) or equivalent is advantageous.
  • English communication capability in written and oral
  • Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good presentation and influencing skills
  • 2+ years of experience in quality control or analysis
  • Knowledge related to food and beverage production and quality control is preferred
  • 2+ years of experience working in a multi-national FMCG industry is preferred.
  • Experience or knowledge of working in an SAP environment is a plus
