The Opportunity:
The Quality Receiving Inspector is responsible for verifying incoming materials, components, and assemblies meet engineering, contractual, and quality requirements prior to release to production. This role ensures compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality system procedures through detailed inspection, documentation review, and coordination with Quality Engineering and Material Review Board (MRB) when nonconformances are identified.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform receiving inspection of incoming materials, parts, and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOM), specifications, and technical documentation to determine inspection requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Utilize standard receiving inspection tools and measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, and other dimensional inspection equipment.
  • Verify part identification, revision levels, certifications, and traceability documentation in accordance with configuration control and quality system requirements.
  • Document inspection results in the applicable quality system and maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Identify, document, and process nonconforming material in accordance with the nonconforming material control process.
  • Initiate or support MRB activities by documenting discrepancies and coordinating with Quality Engineering and Engineering for disposition.
  • Ensure compliance with company Quality Management System requirements and applicable industry standards (e.g., AS9100).
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring defects or supplier quality issues and escalating through appropriate channels.
  • Maintain proper calibration usage and handling of inspection equipment in accordance with calibration control requirements.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Experience performing receiving inspection in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of MRB processes and nonconforming material control.
  • Proficiency using standard inspection and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to document inspection results accurately.
  • Basic understanding of quality management systems and inspection documentation practices.

Desired

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality system requirements.
  • Experience with electronic quality systems such as TipQA or equivalent NCR/MRB tracking systems.
  • IPC certification or experience inspecting electronic assemblies.

Pay Range:

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$45,900 - $91,700
