Reporting to the Regional Quality Manager for Digital Solutions and Plant Manager, the Quality Manager position is responsible for managing, implementing, and facilitating Quality Assurance while being engaged in Continuous Improvement programs within the plant. In this function, the Quality Manager assures that all products produced and shipped conform to the applicable specifications and quality levels established by Prysmian and the customer.

As part of the Claremont Management Team, the Quality Manager is also accountable for ensuring the plant meets its stated business objectives. The Quality Manager also maintains the plant’s TL9000/ISO 9001 accreditation and effective contact with customers and external accreditation / listing representatives. The Quality Manager effectively supports other certifications such as ISO14001 and ISO45001 with internal audits for compliance.

Team Overview and Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements, as necessary, Quality Assurance and Continual Improvement programs to ensure effective ongoing product quality.
  • Engaged in the plant’s Lean Sigma program.
  • Manages and directs required testing throughout all processes.
  • Provides analyzed data reports as necessary to drive improvement.
  • Recruits quality assurance associates, as appropriate, and provides the necessary training so that their work is in accordance with stated procedures.
  • Accountable for the Quality Management System and external audits.
  • Interfaces with customers and regulatory agency inspection representatives during plant visits and scheduled audits (UL, ETL, ABS, Etc.).
  • Investigates field issues and customer returns, as necessary, to ensure effective corrective action is taken to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensures effective operation of the plant as a member of the Plant Management Team.
  • Provides effective communication to internal and external customers on matters relating to quality.
  • Accountable for the QA Type Testing Laboratory as well as Final Testing

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A results driven person who has demonstrated an ability working in a high performance manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in Quality Assurance techniques and Lean Sigma tools.
  • Must have good attention to details but be able to manage the bigger picture.
  • Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with often conflicting priorities on a day to day basis.
  • Must be able to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement.
  • Solid planning, execution, and administrative skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities.
  • High energy demonstrates urgency and fast pace.
  • Good understanding of business principles and practices.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in quality assurance, engineering, or related practical science: with a strong foundation in the application of quality and Lean Sigma tools and techniques.
  • 4+ years’ experience in quality engineering working in manufacturing environment.
  • Supervisory skills in a team based environment.
  • Sound computer skills, comfortable with a variety of software applications
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Wire and cable experience a plus.
  • Optical Fiber or Optical Fiber Cable manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Six Sigma certification a plus.
  • ASQ Certification a plus.
