Quality Manager

The Quality Manager will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of quality assurance and control processes for design, construction and/ or environment.

This position is based in Thunder Bay, ON.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Preparing the Project Quality Plan and ensuring alignment with the project specific Project Execution Plan
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing best practices to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Provide training and support to staff on quality standards and best practices. Promote a culture of quality and safety throughout the organization.
  • Manage and maintain comprehensive documentation related to quality processes, including procedures, reports, and records. Ensure proper documentation for regulatory compliance. Coordinating the preparation and review of quality monitoring reports for Bird management and customer
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues and deviations. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Performing quality reviews of tenders and addressing procurement quality related issues
  • Involvement with evaluation and selection of suppliers and preparing supplier qualification records
  • Leading project quality personnel and assisting with resolution to quality related issues and monitoring the performance of quality personnel and providing positive reinforcement.
  • Lead internal and external audits and inspections. Prepare and review audit reports and ensure timely resolution of any identified issues or non-conformities.
  • Lead the performance of self-assessments.
  • Collecting data and providing inputs for the management review.
  • Collaborate with other leaders within the organization to cultivate a robust quality-based culture, fostering excellence in each project and strengthening internal department relations.
  • Identify and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) pertinent to quality, monitoring both lagging and leading trends to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and revise quality assurance and quality control forms to ensure compliance with evolving industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement project-specific inspection and test plans (ITPs) in adherence to best industry practice and, ensuring compliance with provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to the management team, providing support to field QA/QC personnel to ensure the successful execution of construction projects.
  • Conduct ongoing quality audits of projects to verify conformity to company standards and regulatory requirements.

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 5-6 years of experience in the construction industry with a strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control processes for design, construction and/or environment.
  • Professional Engineering (P. Eng) designation is highly desirable.
  • Quality Management Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards, with an emphasis on their application within the company industry.
  • Proficiency in interpreting contracts, government regulations, and technical standards.
  • Demonstrated expertise in continuous improvement methodologies and value-added processes.
  • Strong analytical, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills relevant to quality management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Blue Beam, Power BI, and Construction Management System (CMS) software.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet aggressive internal and external deadlines.
