Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: The Quality Inspector is responsible for conducting product inspections to ensure cabinet products meet company quality standards, specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry regulations. This role collaborates closely with all plant departments to identify defects early in the production process, minimize rework, and ensure that only compliant products are approved for shipment.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct quality inspections at various stages of the manufacturing process
- Verify materials, dimensions, construction, and workmanship against drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Identify defects, non-conformances, and process deviations, document findings clearly.
- Communicate quality issues promptly to lead, production supervisors and operators.
- Support corrective and preventive actions by providing inspection data and feedback.
- Perform final inspections on completed cabinets prior to packaging and shipment to include customer requirements, order specifications, and internal quality standards.
- Approve or reject finished products, accurately record inspection results, complete inspection reports, checklists, and non-conformance documentation.
- Maintain accurate quality records in accordance with procedures and Standard Work.
- Assist with quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
- Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and finishing teams to improve product quality and reduce defects.
- Provide input on process improvements, quality standards, and inspection methods.
- Support training of production staff on quality expectations and common defects
- Perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
- 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment (woodworking or cabinet manufacturing preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret specifications, and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify cosmetic and functional defects.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team-based environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Previous experience in cabinet manufacturing, woodworking, or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Experience with quality inspection, quality assurance, or quality control processes.
- Familiarity with reading technical drawings, product specifications, and work instructions.
- Knowledge of measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and gauges.
- Understanding of manufacturing quality standards and inspection procedures.
- Experience with defect identification, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
- Basic computer skills for recording inspection results and maintaining quality documentation.
- Experience working in a fast-paced production or assembly environment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify minor defects in materials, finishes, and workmanship.
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards and manufacturing best practices.
