The Quality Control Inspection Lead (S5) is responsible for leading the inspection workforce at the Fort Worth Landing Gear facility, supporting both OE and spares programs for military customers. This role reports directly to the Quality Control Manager and is responsible for daily direction of inspectors, assignment of work, performing inspections, supporting RTPR activities, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements. The QC Lead also drives execution of inspection processes, develops team capability through training and coaching, and leads continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, flow, and inspection effectiveness. The site is AS9100‑certified and supports major defense customers including Lockheed Martin and Boeing.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the Quality Control inspection team, providing daily work assignments, direction, and task prioritization supporting site objectives
  • Perform in‑process, receiving, FAI, and final inspections on landing gear components in accordance with engineering, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support and perform Real Time Problem Resolution (RTPR) activities to immediately resolve issues impeding inspection progress
  • Ensure inspection work is completed to required standards, meets production schedules, and complies with AS9100 and customer requirements.
  • Train inspectors on work instructions, inspection techniques, measurement tools, and site‑specific requirements.
  • Support skill development and ongoing qualification of inspection personnel.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on inspection throughput, quality performance, and defect reduction.
  • Participate in pitch walks, provide progress updates, and ensure accurate reporting of inspection status and metrics.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, and Quality Assurance to resolve nonconformances and support timely disposition.
  • Maintain inspection documentation, records, and system entries with accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and procedural requirements in all inspection activities.
  • Support internal and external audits and inspections, including DCMA, customer representatives, and registrars.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, quality focus, and continuous improvement within the inspection team.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a High school diploma or equivalent and 8 years of relevant aerospace/defense inspection or assembly experience, or an associate degree and 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience performing inspections in an assembly and/or test facility
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, models, and Acceptance Test Procedures
  • Experience with precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and various precision gages
  • Prior experience leading mechanics or inspectors in an assembly/test facility
  • Experience with MS Excel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required government access or customer requirements.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • CATIA, Teamcenter, and SAP familiarity
  • Experience on military airframe products such as: Landing Gear, Aircraft Structures, Powerplant Systems
  • Experience with nonconformance documentation (QN) and root cause/corrective action processes
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under stress.
  • Strong communication, training, and coaching skills.
  • Ability and flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively with DCMA and prime contractor quality representatives.
