Quality Engineer
Full time
Derby/Hybrid
The Quality of our products and services is of critical importance to Rolls-Royce; it underpins the safety of our products and is fundamental to meeting customer and regulatory requirements.
This is a unique opportunity to work closely with our Civil Aerospace manufacturing, procurement, or service teams to make a difference to the Quality of the iconic products that our customers depend upon every day.
We are looking for talented people from different backgrounds and experience to join the Rolls-Royce Quality team.
You will work within a supportive, collaborative, and learning culture that will enable you to develop skills, innovative ideas and grow your career.
This is your opportunity to be a part of shaping the future of Quality in Civil Aerospace.
What you will be doing:
Understand customer, regulatory and business requirements and ensure there is an effective means of satisfying those requirements, e.g. through the Rolls-Royce Management System. The team is heavily customer-focused: it daily engages with the Rolls-Royce customer facing team and occasionally with airplane manufacturers.
Protect the customer and the business through the management of problems, either through performing problem resolution or through the coaching of others. Role involves coaching and auditing the 8D problem resolution of suppliers as they respond to non-conformances.
Role includes managing notice of non-conformance and/or escapes. This includes managing the process to engage chief engineers and other technical authorities to sentence and manage the non-conformance. These activities provide a significant opportunity for the team member for technical upskill and understanding of jet engine architecture.
Perform assurance activities to provide confidence to the business that customer, regulatory and business requirements will be achieved. These activities include ensuring non-conforming parts are not delivered to our customers, which includes containment of all non-conforming parts and products within the Rolls-Royce system. These activities provide a significant learning opportunity of global logistics.
Support supplier maturity and improvement to ensure Rolls-Royce requirements are achieved.
You will be offered the opportunity to pursue the Lean Six-Sigma Green and/or Black Belt and 8D Practitioner/Coach accreditations as part of your role.
