Otis has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer who will play a critical role in driving product and process excellence across our operations. This position is responsible for investigating field failures, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence. The ideal candidate will proactively assess manufacturing and specification processes to identify potential quality gaps, support cross-functional problem-solving initiatives, and lead data-driven analysis to improve product performance and customer satisfaction. 

On a typical day you will:

  • Interacts with Field mechanics to understand failures and failure modes to aid in identifying cause(s) of failures and aid in working on solutions to prevent reoccurrence of those failures in the future 

  • Assess and evaluates any and all manufacturing processes for gaps that could lead to opportunities for potential defects or escapes to the customer 

  • Assess and evaluates any and all upstream specification processes for gaps that could lead to opportunities for potential defects or escapes to the customer 

  • Documents investigation results and summarizing technical details 

  • Provides detail summaries and presentations to team and reports to management in monthly Quality reviews 

  • Provides detail summaries to other functional groups to initiate Problem Solving projects or events when necessary 

  • Supports other functional departments when needed during Investigations and or Problem-solving projects or events 

  • Analyzes COPQ metrics and AMT issues and data sets 

  • Manages COPQ metrics and AMT reports and summaries 

  • Analyze data sets (drawing conclusions about product and process performance) and communicate recommendations to leaders with the aid of data visualizations 

  • Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed 

What You Will Need to be Successful:

  • Understanding the data and data systems along with the manufacturing processes 

  • Logically identifying and reasoning individually and within teams when necessary to participate in detail problem solving events and provide solutions when necessary 

  • Capable of reacting quickly at high frequencies and monitoring yourself and your work 

  • Logically identifying issues and supporting teams with technical expertise to aid in obtain solutions and mistake proofs using but not limited to RRCA 

  • Read and understand information within spreadsheets and other various documents electronically. Excel and Minitab are preferred

  • Ability to decipher data to identify potential or active issues and possible trends when they exist 

  • Ability to assess and identify issues within process/product when they exist 

  • Ability to work well under pressure & work well with others 

  • Bachelor's degree in quality, engineering, or a related field is preferred

  • Certification in Lean or Six Sigma is advantageous

  • A basic understanding of elevator systems is also beneficial
