What You Will Do:

As the Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our Aftermarket Operations meet the highest quality and regulatory standards. You will work with a team of experts in the field that will mentor and help you learn about the world of Quality at Pratt & Whitney.  You will also have tremendous opportunities for professional development and career growth.

Typical tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Leading teams that investigate the root cause of customer escapes and non-conformances and determine appropriate corrective/preventive actions.

  • Perform product, process and work instruction reviews.

  • Review and approve FAI’s, Service Masters, Work Instructions

  • Interface with various Engineering groups and Customer Support to resolve technical/quality issues

  • Lead and participate in various teams in support of the unit’s ACE goals.

  • Provide technical guidance and training to inspectors

  • Interface with off-shift production supervision to help prevent quality work stops

  • QN creation/documentation through SAP

  • Interface with regulatory agencies, customers, and external vendors to resolve technical/ quality issues

  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards including AS9100, AS9102, ISO9001

  • Quality Stamp control

  • Variation control and closure

  • Flexibility may be required to support other shifts, for training and to maintain workflow, to include overtime

Pratt & Whitney's North Berwick, Maine facility is a FAA regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Departments of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

Qualification You Must Have:

  • Advanced degree and 6+ months of experience in Quality, Engineering or Operations experience in Manufacturing, Aerospace, Defense, Automotive or other heavily-regulated industry; OR Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant industry experience; OR Associate’s degree and 4+ years of relevant industry experience.  We will also consider High School Diploma or specialized Technical or Military training and 6+ years of relevant industry experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • University degree ideally in Engineering. Mechanical or Quality Engineering preferred

  • Knowledge of inspection tools, equipment and Quality Management Systems (i.e., AS9100)

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, familiarity with geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Working knowledge of Pratt & Whitney shop practices & processes, quality standards, and inspections methods & tools

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, continuous improvement tools and problem-solving techniques (CORE/ACE/SixSigma, QCPC, RCCA Red-X, Fault Tree, etc.).

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite programs, SAP ERP, and Solumina MES.

  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with all levels of management, shop personnel and customers.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
