Join Collins Aerospace as a Quality Engineer and take on a highly visible role where you’ll serve as the critical link between our customers and internal teams to ensure product excellence. In this position, you’ll go beyond standard quality oversight—owning customer communication, driving root cause investigations, and leading efforts to resolve defects and prevent recurrence. From managing customer scorecards and supporting audits to ensuring compliance with contractual quality requirements, your work will directly influence customer satisfaction, product reliability, and overall program success in a fast-paced aerospace and defense environment.
 

Working cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams, you’ll play a hands-on role in shaping and improving quality systems, processes, and outcomes. You’ll analyze data, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and apply industry-standard methodologies like PFMEA, control plans, and inspection strategies to proactively manage risk and enhance performance. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on problem-solving, enjoys digging into the “why” behind issues, and wants to make a measurable impact by strengthening both product quality and customer trust.



What You Will Do:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers on product quality matters, ensuring timely and effective communication
  • Manage customer quality scorecards, analyze defect trends, and lead investigations into product escapes and nonconformances
  • Support customer audits and drive corrective actions to address findings and ensure compliance
  • Review contracts and implement activities to ensure adherence to contractual quality requirements
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions to resolve defects and improve overall process performance
  • Develop, maintain, and apply quality systems, evaluation methods, and control processes
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to support the development of test plans, methods, and equipment that ensure product reliability
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure quality standards are implemented and process documentation meets program and contractual requirements
  • Identify and manage product and process risks using Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) elements, including PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow Diagrams, and Control Plans
  • Develop and implement proactive quality improvement initiatives to reduce defects and enhance efficiency
  • Partner with engineering teams to implement product or process changes in response to customer quality concerns
  • Support the development and maintenance of inspection methods, tools, and technologies to ensure product conformance

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Prior knowledge or experience with reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T (ASME Y14.5)

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • Must have computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience using inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages, pin gages, thread gages, etc.)
  • Coachable and willing to be fully engaged in all aspects of Quality principles and activities
  • Experience with AS 9100 or ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
