Hexcel is currently seeking a Quality Engineer for our Burlington, WA location.

Additionally, the QE ensures consistency, accuracy, and reliability of processes and quality controls by participation in quality review activities, corrective action analyses, performing audits and evaluating findings for corrective action. Summary pay range:  $68,439 - $117, 324 annual salary

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Develop and implement programs that assist manufacturing in consistent quality improvement effort.  Participate in design reviews, develop part inspection plans, and drive overall product quality improvement.
  • Review specifications, both customer and internal.  Analyze technical requirements of contracts, drawings and specifications to develop plans for product quality.  Create and maintain quality documentation when required by customer or internal system.
  • Interface with customers to ensure compliance with customer requirements as it relates to quality systems including purchase orders, contracts, and the like.
  • Support Quality Management System audits.  Support intra-company, cross-functional audits, as needed. Assist with performance of customer audits and assist customers with on-site audits.  Perform supplier audits, when needed, and assist in flow-down of requirements and quality system to suppliers.
  • Investigate internal and customer quality nonconformances. Facilitate/participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities (e.g., 8D methodologies). Ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented, verified, and sustained.
  • Serve as the quality liaison between Hexcel and assigned suppliers. Investigate supplier quality issues, and coordinate containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. Manage supplier quality claims and related documentation. Support supplier evaluation, and ongoing performance monitoring. Review and approve supplier corrective action reports to ensure timely and effective closure. Partner with Supply Chain, Purchasing, Engineering, and Operations to drive supplier quality improvements. Assist with supplier audits and quality system assessments. Ensure proper flow‑down of customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university required.  Previous experience in a technical capacity is highly preferred. A minimum of 2+ years of experience in aerospace, composites, or regulated manufacturing environments preferred. Experience with composite materials and lean manufacturing is a plus. 
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (AS9100 & Nadcap preferred).
  • Experience with corrective action systems, internal audits, and supplier quality activities. Experience with structured problem-solving tools (8D, Six Sigma, Lean methodologies preferred).
  • Familiarity with statistical methods and data analysis. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
