Hexcel is currently seeking a Quality Engineer for our Duxford, UK location.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
- Support operations, customers, and suppliers to optimize capacity and minimize disruptions.
- Lead and participate in ancillary tasks such as 5S, FOD, FMEA, APQP, LEAN, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate resolution of internal and external complaints using RCCA and global tools, ensuring timely communication of progress.
- Collaborate across departments globally and locally to provide appropriate technical support and testing.
- Perform PSI checks and adhere to PPE requirements in line with company safety goals.
- Conduct investigations, projects, and data analysis using tools like Minitab, NWA, and LIMS to support quality improvements.
- Review and safeguard specifications (global, European, local) to ensure legal compliance and manage exceptions.
- Support QMS reviews and audits to maintain system robustness and identify improvement opportunities.
- Develop expertise in Hexcel products, processes, and testing to assist with internal and external problem resolution.
- Contribute to audits and ERP system maintenance (APRISO, AX2012) and perform additional tasks as directed by the Quality Manager.
Qualifications:
- Experience with complex Quality Management Systems in a relevant industry.
- Proven exposure to project management and quality auditing to AS9100/ISO 9001 standards, with awareness of NADCAP.
- A scientific degree or equivalent qualification, or the ability to achieve this level of academic expertise.
- A strong understanding of the aerospace composites sector and its associated technical and regulatory challenges.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SPC techniques, statistics, and statistical tools such as Minitab (or equivalent software).
- Experience working in a department that interfaces with multiple global sites and senior management levels is desirable.
- Experience using QMS software or laboratory data-management systems is advantageous.
