DESCRIPTION:

Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Lead QC Technician in our Specialty Diagnostics Group (SDG), Microbiology Business Division (MBD) at our East Grinstead location. In this important role, you'll be part of the Quality Control team ensuring that all medical devices manufactured on site are fit for purpose, including testing of raw materials and final products.

The MBD East Grinstead site is the only manufacturer of the Sensititre product range, which includes antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) products. Our AST devices are used globally to determine which antibiotics a particular bacterium is sensitive or resistant to, ensuring patients receive the most appropriate treatment. The Sensititre products are used worldwide in Clinical, Pharmaceutical, and Veterinary settings.

How you will make an impact:

  • Ensure quality standards are met through testing and inspection of products in a cGMP environment
  • Coordinate quality control activities and lead a team of QC technicians
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain the highest quality standards
  • Perform analytical testing, document results, and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Mentor team members and contribute to the development of the QC department

What you will do:

  • Test all types of Sensititre final products and raw materials
  • Prepare and culture microorganisms for testing
  • Plan day-to-day activities and ensure all deadlines are met on time and in full (OTIF)
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Control Worksheets, ensuring they are adequately maintained
  • Manage contamination control within the manufacturing facilities
  • Complete out of specification/non-conformity reports and concessions
  • Contribute to general laboratory upkeep, including calibration of equipment and maintaining lab stock

REQUIREMENTS:

How you will get here:

  • BSc in an appropriate science or proven equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of the purpose of Quality Control within a regulated environment (pharmaceutical/medical device preferred)
  • Strong understanding of cGMP requirements and quality systems
  • Experience with quality documentation and data review

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow procedures to ensure optimal results
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills to meet deadlines and lead times
  • Effective communication skills, able to adapt your style to foster collaboration with a range of people
  • Proficiency with standard office software and LIMS systems
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues
  • Experience writing and reviewing SOPs and technical documentation

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in cleanroom environments and follow gowning procedures
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
