Quality Control Technician

Join Heidelberg Materials UK and play a key role in ensuring the quality, consistency, and performance of our Concrete, Asphalt, and Quarry products. We are committed to delivering exceptional technical services and maintaining rigorous quality standards to support our customers and operations nationwide.

As a Quality Control Technician, you will work both independently and collaboratively, carrying out essential sampling and testing activities while maintaining high levels of accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail.

Purpose of the Role

You will be responsible for sampling, field testing, and specimen preparation across Concrete, Asphalt, and Quarry materials in line with British Standards and company procedures. This role supports our wider technical, commercial, and operational functions by ensuring product quality is continuously monitored, maintained, and improved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to cost‑effective product manufacturing through accurate technical support.

  • Maintain product quality levels that meet commercial objectives and customer expectations.

  • Provide high‑quality technical support to Commercial, Operations, and external customers.

  • Complete sampling, field testing, and specimen preparation of Concrete, Asphalt, and Quarry products following relevant standards and procedures.

  • Investigate and report on quality issues across sites and depots, including:

    • Concrete sampling, testing, and preparation

    • Asphalt sampling, testing, and preparation

    • Aggregate sampling, testing, and preparation

    • Preliminary plant or customer site investigations

    • Initial investigations into product issues

    • Water demand and moisture content checks in ready‑mix concrete

    • Site practice reviews

    • Truck delivery practice reviews

    • Product consistency checks

  • Raise NCRs and Near Hits where appropriate.

  • Challenge poor safety or quality behaviours.

  • Support the transportation of test specimens as required.

  • Carry out any additional duties requested by your manager.

Education & Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 4/C or above in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
