Job Summary: NIST works with industry and science to advance innovation and improve quality of life. We're looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our team! The Fatigue and Fracture Group is part of the Applied Chemicals and Materials Division (ACMD) on the NIST Boulder campus. The Group develops new methods for evaluating mechanical performance and is especially focused on linking relatively small-scale laboratory tests with real world failure conditions.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: In order to qualify, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-10 (ZT-III at NIST) level. Specialized experience is defined as: Conducting Charpy impact tests at room temperature and low temperature, including sample preparation, use of specimen cooling systems, data recording and record keeping, as well as maintaining charpy equipment, including building and installing new fixtures and tooling Certifying Charpy results according to a Standard Reference Material program Applying standard test methods to evaluate the mechanical properties of materials Developing, revising, implementing, and auditing Quality Management Systems Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
