We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Quality Assurance Specialist (Development) to join our Quality Assurance team in Langley, BC.  

Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance, you will be responsible for supporting the development, reformulation, and standardization of fresh and private‑brand retail products across Pattison Food Group (PFG). In this role, you will work closely with Private Brands and fresh merchandising teams to ensure products meet PFG food safety, quality, regulatory, and brand standards. The role plays a key part in delivering safe, compliant, and consistent products to PFG customers.


You will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with Category Managers and Business Development Managers to support new product development and reformulation for fresh and Private Brand products.
  • Conducting technical and risk-based reviews to ensure all applicable regulations and brand requirements are met.
  • Coordinating sensory evaluations to validate product attributes and performance.
  • Analyzing and communicating sensory results and providing recommendations to the business.
  • Conducting first production product verifications and reporting deviations.
  • Developing, updating and maintaining corporate food safety plans and sanitation plans.
  • Supporting the creation, maintenance and validation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for in-store programs.
  • Coordinating external testing for shelf life, food safety, quality, or nutritional analysis as needed.
  • Maintaining recipes and nutritional data in Genesis and creating nutritional labelling as required.
  • Remaining up to date on food safety and quality trends, issues, and initiatives in the food industry.

You have:

  • A post-secondary degree in microbiology, food science or other relevant discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in product development, food safety, quality assurance, manufacturing, regulatory compliance, or other relevant experience.
  • A solid understanding of the product development process including sensory evaluation, first production runs and associated documentation.
  • Experience creating HACCP plans for food manufacturing or retail food establishment settings.
  • Knowledge of CFIA, Health Canada regulations, provincial food premise regulations, and GFSI requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge in Genesis nutritional software is considered an asset.
  • Able to travel on an as needed basis.

Compensation Details:

$74,029.00 - $92,536.00

The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience and other factors.
