The Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for supporting the production of high-precision machine tools. This role is responsible for ensuring product quality, reliability, and compliance across manufacturing processes and systems. The position involves analyzing quality data to identify trends, supporting the creation of inspection plans and protocols, leading and contributing to cross-functional projects, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to resolve quality issues, implement corrective and preventive actions, and strengthen overall quality performance throughout the product lifecycle.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Support the development and implementation of inspection plans, test protocols, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with Engineering and Production teams.
- Support first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final product validation
- Investigate non-conformances and lead root cause analysis using tools such as 4D/8D, PDCA, 5-Why’s, etc.
- Implement and track corrective and preventive actions to ensure long-term resolution
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure quality requirements are met
- Support supplier quality management, including internal audit participation, performance monitoring, and issue resolution
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to ensure alignment with quality standards
- Monitor manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to reduce defects and variation
- Participate in cross-functional projects related to new product introduction (NPI) and process improvements
- Maintain accurate documentation including inspection reports, test results, and quality records
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001)
Required Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (Fabrication, Machining, Welding, Mechanical Assembly etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experience with inspection and metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs)
- Knowledge of quality systems, standards, and auditing practices
- Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and act on data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar tools for reporting and analysis
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
