About the Team

CRAD's mission is to operate as a third line of defense (“3rd LOD”) independent from the credit approval process and provide Bank senior management and Board of Directors an independent assessment and objective challenge that will ensure accurate credit ratings, adherence to policies and procedures, effective credit risk management, and address regulatory requirements.

Summary

The Quality Assurance (QA) Officer within Credit Review Americas is responsible for executing an independent and comprehensive quality assurance program designed to assess the consistency, rigor, and effectiveness of activities performed across the Credit Review Americas framework. This role serves as a key third-line control within the Division, providing objective evaluation of review execution, portfolio monitoring, issue management, reporting, and adherence to established methodology, regulatory expectations, and internal standards.

The candidate will perform targeted and thematic quality assurance assessments to ensure that Credit Review activities are conducted in a manner that is risk-focused, analytically sound, well-supported, and align with Division protocols. The role also plays an important part in identifying opportunities to strengthen review practices, elevate reporting quality, and promote continuous improvement across the function. The QA Specialist will report directly to the Head of CRAD.  

Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Execution:

  • Conduct independent quality assurance assessments across the full Credit Review framework, including individual review engagements, continuous monitoring activities, issue validation, report production, and supporting workpapers.

  • Evaluate the adequacy, consistency, and effectiveness of Credit Review practices against established methodology, Division Standards, regulatory guidance, and internal policy expectations.

  • Assess whether reviews are appropriately risk-focused, supported by sound credit analysis, and demonstrate clear linkage between testing performed, Issues & Observations identified, and credit risk management conclusions reached.

  • Review the quality, sufficiency, and defensibility of workpapers, sampling approaches, analytical support, and evidence maintained within review files.

Methodology and Standards:

  • Determine compliance with Credit Review procedures, documentation standards, review protocols, and quality benchmarks.

  • Assess consistency in the application of rating methodologies, Issue severity determinations, root cause analysis, and final report conclusions.

  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or process weaknesses that may impact the

  • reliability, transparency, or effectiveness of Credit Review outputs.

Reporting and Feedback:

  • Prepare clear, concise, and actionable quality assurance reports summarizing assessment results, identified deficiencies, thematic observations, and recommendations for enhancement.

  • Present quality assurance findings and trend analysis to Head of CRAD.

  • Track recurring issues and common themes to inform broader Division training, methodology refinement, process improvement initiatives, and/or required action to remediate findings.

  • Maintain reporting metrics and dashboards to support transparency into overall quality performance across the Division.

Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with CRAD senior leadership to support the ongoing enhancement of quality standards, review templates, guidance documents, and procedural expectations.

  • Recommend changes to strengthen analytical rigor, consistency of execution, and documentation discipline across review teams.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of CRAD’s Quality Assurance framework, including annual QA plans, testing criteria, and scorecards.

Reporting

  • Engage constructively with reviewers, portfolio monitoring officers, and review leaders to communicate quality assurance observations and promote remediation of identified gaps.

  • Serve as a subject matter resource on Division methodology, quality expectations, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related discipline.

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Credit Review, Credit Risk Management, Credit/Loan Review, Regulatory Examination or Quality Assurance/Oversight functions within financial services.

  • Familiarity with commercial credit risk, underwriting, portfolio management, banking regulatory expectations related to independent credit review and risk governance.

  • Experience designing or executing formal quality assurance programs, assessing complex analytical work, testing execution quality, and challenging risk conclusions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize quality observations into concise executive reporting.

  • High degree of professional skepticism, independence, and attention to detail.

The expected base salary ranges from $210,000.00 - $220,000.00. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
