Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, optimization, and validation of qPCR assays for gene expression, genotyping, and molecular diagnostics applications.
Perform RNA/DNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, and nucleic acid quantification using spectrophotometric and fluorometric methods.
Validate assay performance, including sensitivity, specificity, efficiency, and reproducibility.
Analyze and interpret qPCR data using software such as Applied Biosystems QuantStudio, Bio-Rad CFX Manager, or equivalent platforms.
Troubleshoot technical issues and propose innovative solutions to improve assay performance.
Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records, laboratory notebooks, and data reports.
Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, QC, and bioinformatics teams to support product development or experimental studies.
Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols, quality management systems, and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, GLP, or CLIA, as applicable).
Present experimental findings in technical meetings and contribute to scientific documentation and publications.
Mentor junior scientists and research associates, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related life sciences discipline. Experience requirements will vary based on degree.
Experience:
Minimum of 2–5 years of hands-on experience performing qPCR (probe based chemistry preferred), including multiplexed qPCR reactions.
Prior experience with assay development, validation, and data analysis.
Familiarity with nucleic acid extraction instruments or workflows is expected.
Additional experience in NGS is a plus.
Technical Skills:
In-depth understanding of molecular biology principles, qPCR kinetics, and assay troubleshooting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
Strong understanding of qPCR principles, primer/probe design, and amplification kinetics.
Proficiency in data analysis, statistical interpretation, and report generation.
Experience working under quality and regulatory standards preferred.
Soft Skills:
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Strong attention to detail and scientific curiosity.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with bioinformatics tools for assay design
Experience with digital PCR (dPCR)
Knowledge of automation and data management systems.
