The QMS Document Control Coordinator is responsible for the governance, control, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) documentation in compliance with AS9100, applicable regulatory requirements, and internal standards. This role serves as the subject matter expert for document control processes, ensures integrity and consistency of documentation across multiple business units, and supports audit readiness, compliance, and standardization initiatives.
What You Will Do *
Own and manage the full lifecycle of QMS documentation, including creation support, review, approval, release, revision, distribution, and archival
Ensure all controlled documents comply with AS9100, regulatory, and Collins/Interiors requirements, retention cycles, and defined document hierarchies
Ensure compliance with required 3-year document maintenance and review cycles, including coordination for new, revised, and cancelled documents outside of scheduled reviews
Coordinate document change control activities, maintain strict version control, and prevent the use of obsolete documentation in production
Publish, manage and maintain controlled documents in approved systems (e.g., SharePoint) and ensure effective communication of changes
Serve as the primary point of contact for QMS document control compliance and governance
Support internal, customer, and certification audits by ensuring documentation accuracy, traceability, and availability
Provide guidance and training to document authors and process owners on document control requirements and best practices
Ensure manufacturing personnel have access to current, approved procedures, work instructions, and quality records used on the factory floor
Monitor user access, permissions, and training linkages to controlled documents
Ensure effective communication and deployment of new or revised documents to impacted users
Enforce document review cycles, version control, and record retention requirements
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications You Must Have *
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Quality, Engineering, Business, or a related field
4+ years experience in QMS Document Control within a regulated manufacturing environment (aerospace preferred)
Strong working knowledge of AS9100 / ISO9001 documentation and records control requirements
Proven experience managing complex documentation structures across multiple BUs
Strong understanding of document hierarchies, governance models, and compliance principles
Proven experience in document control, records management, quality systems, or manufacturing support roles
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience using document management systems such as SharePoint, or similar platforms
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience supporting aerospace or aviation programs
Direct experience with AS9100/ ISO9100, and formal Quality Management Systems (QMS)
Experience supporting internal, external, customer, and certification audits
Knowledge of records retention, information governance, and regulatory compliance requirements
Explains documentation requirements and expectations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
Experience with other electronic documents and quality management systems used in regulated manufacturing environments
Strong system discipline with an understanding of access control, audit trails, and records retention
Working knowledge of SAP and hands-on experience with SharePoint 2019 for document management, workflow control, versioning, and access management
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including but not limited to: Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
