Role overview:
To manage and develop the quality, safety and environmental function of the business to ensure that it has the right skills, processes, materials, information and procedures to consistently meet customers requirements and the standards established by formal quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001,OHSAS 18001 and BRC) thereby maintaining a competitive edge within the marketplace. With full responsibility for site health, safety, hygiene and environmental compliance.

Key responsibilities
Ensure the integrity of the quality, safety and environmental system is maintained and developed thereby contributing to the achievement of consistent operational performance and standards.
Manage and develop the QA function and promoting a total quality philosophy at all levels, thereby developing and sustaining a culture of right first time and continuous improvement.
Recruit, develop, motivate, manage and lead a QA team that optimises its effectiveness, is flexible in the support it offers and meets current and future business needs.
Contribute to factory efficiency by improving the performance of supplied materials and assisting production in establishing better controls over the blow moulding process.
To investigate and develop new systems and working practices to improve quality, reliability and efficiency, through continuous measurement (including application of SPC), feedback and action.
Manage the customer complaint procedure, investigation of quality problems, identification of causes and development of cost-effective corrective and preventative actions in order to ensure the integrity of quality management within the business.
Establish and develop good professional working relationships with customers.
Prevent conversion problems arising with new product by having a robust design and specification procedure in place, which takes account of process capability at product design stage.
Ensure compliance with statutory and business obligations throughout the site relating to Health, Safety and Environment and UN regulations.
Integrate close working relationships with customer services, production and technical with respect to improvements across the business.
Lead and manage the site compliance in respect to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and BRC accreditations ensuring site is compliant to maintain the standards required and necessary for the business.
Lead and develop the site leadership team in the Safety philosophy coaching and mentoring individuals through the NEBOSH qualification.
Responsible of the internal and external audit process related to QSHE and customers/suppliers.
Deputise in the absence of the General Manager to ensure the successful operation of the Plant.
Maintain the highest levels of quality and ensure employees are adequately trained to carry out their duties proficiently.
Contribute and lead daily meetings with key shift personnel to agree action plans that will resolve issues and improve performance.
Hold monthly meetings with the production teams and communicate clearly on all issues that impact on safety, quality, customer satisfaction and OEE
Drive and implement change to facilitate continuous improvement through Kaizen and Kaizen Teian.
Deliver results through engaging with the team to introduce innovative manufacturing and production processes and controls that create lean, responsive, and predictive operations in an agile production environment.
Support all employee issues in conjunction with the HR Manager, Operations Manager and Supervisors including but not limited to grievance, discipline, sickness absence, performance management.
Control and review all production process and quality documentation.
Lead continuous improvement across all areas of the production process.
Work closely with engineering and maintenance to drive safety and quality focused maintenance program.
Education & Experience
Bachelor degree in scientific/engineering
Membership/qualification from a professional body
10 years experience in a manufacturing environment. Blow moulding experience would be an advantage.
5 years experience in Quality, Safety and Environmental management systems.
QA testing procedures.
Problem solving techniques / Customer relation’s skills.
At least 5 years of management experience
Information handling.
Presentation skills.
PC proficient in terms of spreadsheets etc.
Industry standards./guidelines.
Numerical/verbal reasoning skills at management norm (SHL)
Analytical thinking, willingness to take initiative
