The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC), Commissioning and Operations (C&O) Quality Control Inspector (QCI) – Direct Feed Low-Activity Waste (DFLAW), functionally reports to the C&O QC Inspection Manager. The QC Inspector is responsible for supporting system/facility turnover schedule from Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) to C&O care, custody, and control. The QC Inspector is responsible for assigned activities within the C&O Quality Assurance Manual (QAM) in support of system startup testing, commissioning, and operations. These support functions may require the QC Inspector to work weekends and nights.  QC Inspector assures oversight of the proper use of WTCC processes, procedures, and their implementation.

This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

  • Performing assigned duties as a Quality Control Inspector to ensure appropriate quality inspection coverage for WTP, including LBL facilities;

  • Assuring oversight of the proper use of processes, procedures, and their implementation;

  • Personal ownership for completion of training, obtaining and maintaining required qualifications and certifications, inspection planning and inspection execution for assigned activities;

  • Attaining and maintaining required training and qualification for QC inspection as identified in the quality program and specified by the Quality Assurance Manager in individual training profiles;

  • Reviewing and/or completing (including documenting) inspections in design adequacy testing documents to validate attributes comply with acceptance criteria specified in the document. Inspection plan elements include: attributes to be inspected; description of inspection method or process to be used; identification of organization responsible for the inspection; acceptance criteria; measuring and test equipment (M&TE) used to perform the inspection is of the correct type, range accuracy and tolerance, and is within calibration period; methods to record inspection results; and the identification of any mandatory hold points.

  • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work to protect self, others, and the environment

  • This job description is not intended to include every duty, task or instruction for which an employee is responsible. Other tasks, including additional QC inspection and test certification/qualifications (e.g. Welding, PT, MT, UT), may be assigned based on business needs and the department supervisors request

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, science or equivalent education or specific training in area of expertise. 8 years of experience, plus 6 months of related experience in equivalent inspection and testing activities. Experience in implementing DOE Quality Assurance requirements (DOE O 414.1X), or equivalent work at DOE equivalent facilities. (Examples of DOE equivalent facilities: include Department of Defense, Nuclear and Chemical Processing Facilities.)

OR

Associate degree in a related discipline, 8 years of experience, plus 1 year of related experience in equivalent inspection and testing activities. Experience in implementing DOE Quality Assurance requirements (DOE O 414.1X), or equivalent work at DOE equivalent facilities. (Examples of DOE equivalent facilities: include Department of Defense, Nuclear and Chemical Processing Facilities.)

OR

High school graduation, 8 years of experience, plus 3 years of related experience in equivalent inspection and testing activities. Experience in implementing DOE Quality Assurance requirements (DOE O 414.1X), or equivalent work at DOE equivalent facilities. (Examples of DOE equivalent facilities: include Department of Defense, Nuclear and Chemical Processing Facilities.)

Additional Experience:

  • Initial QC Inspector capabilities include evaluation of education, experience, training, and either test results or capability demonstration. 

  • Candidate should be proficient in at least one of the following inspection disciplines (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Instrument and Controls) and should possess sufficient background, knowledge, and training or demonstrated capability, to cross train, and become certified in the other disciplines. 

  • The desired basis of certification/qualification is ASME NQA-1-2008.

Department of Energy, NRC, or Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program experience preferred.

  • Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personnel protective

  • equipment and carrying measurement tools

  • Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

QA and QC Inspector Respirator

Secondary Job Classification: QCQA-RESP

  • Supports Commissioning & Operations activities, establishes and maintains files

  • Occasional audits, surveillances, and inspections in an area, or during a work activity, that requires respiratory protection

  • WTCC quality control inspector vision test per 24590-GPP-RAQS-QC-0001 required for QC inspector certification

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and selected candidate must be willing and able to work a rotating shift schedule, 4 days on / 4 days off, Day shift only

Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Amentum visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $101,573.67 - $157,957.21 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
