Job Purpose:
The QA/QC Engineer-Civil & Structural Steel Works (Flowlines) will be responsible for ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards for civil and structural steel works on the BP_ROO_EPCM project in Iraq. This role involves monitoring and inspecting various facility installations to uphold quality and safety requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reports to QA/QC Manager.
- Monitors and inspects facility installations including RCC structures, building architectural works, asphalt roads/pavements, storm water drainage systems, tank foundations, grouting works, and structural steel erection works.
- Ensures compliance with project documents, codes, standards, and procedures.
- Conducts quality control inspections on concrete works, earthworks, grouting works, and structural steel works as per approved ITPs.
- Inspects heavy equipment foundations and other critical structural components.
- Oversees excavation, backfilling, and compaction activities, including cable/pipe trenches.
- Observes field tests for soil, concrete, and other materials.
- Monitors construction sites to ensure adherence to safety standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure that quality requirements are integrated into the project design phase.
- Conduct regular audits of construction activities to identify non-conformities and develop corrective action plans.
- Review and approve quality control documentation, including test reports, inspection records, and quality certificates.
- Provide technical guidance to subcontractors and construction teams to resolve quality issues and improve workmanship.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality processes and procedures.
- Participate in project meetings and inspections to communicate quality-related updates and findings.
- Assist in the preparation of quality reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct supplier evaluations and inspections to ensure compliance with project quality requirements.
- Support the training and development of junior QA/QC staff members to enhance departmental capabilities and performance.
- Conduct risk assessments and proactive quality checks to prevent defects and deviations from project specifications.
- Coordinate with third-party quality assurance agencies to validate project quality standards and compliance.
Mandatory Competencies:
- Familiarity with international codes and standards related to materials, civil, and structural disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing quality management systems to meet international standards.
- Fluent communication in English.
- Experience in a similar position: 7 to 10 years.
- Experience conducting quality audits
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in civil and structural engineering principles.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance and quality control processes.
- Familiarity with construction materials and methodologies.
- Some knowledge of welding processes and inspection techniques.
- Familiarity with bolted connections and torquing requirements.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment or under minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Qualifications:
- Mandatory Bachelor's or Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Non-essential but preferred qualifications in NDT disciplines, and / or welding inspection

The role will involve on-site inspections and coordination with various project stakeholders. A dynamic and fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
