Role Overview
Hitachi Vantara is seeking a QA SDET Automation Engineer to join our Global Quality Assurance team and contribute to the development, maintenance, and execution of automated testing solutions across our product ecosystem.
In this role, you will design and implement automated tests, enhance existing frameworks, and collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure high‑quality software delivery. You will bring strong hands‑on engineering skills, a passion for automation, and a commitment to continuous improvement in testing practices.

Key Responsibilities
Automation Development: Build, enhance, and maintain automated test suites for UI, API, and storage‑related components.
Framework Contribution: Work within existing automation frameworks and contribute improvements for scalability, maintainability, and performance.
Test Execution & Analysis: Execute automated tests, analyze failures, and work with developers to identify root causes and ensure timely resolution.
CI/CD Integration: Implement and optimize automated test execution within CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
Quality Advocacy: Collaborate with QA, development, and product teams to ensure test coverage, quality standards, and best practices are consistently applied.
Tooling & Environment Setup: Configure automation tools, manage test environments, and work with containerized setups (Docker).
Documentation: Create and maintain clear documentation for test cases, automation scripts, and framework usage.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve automation efficiency, reliability, and coverage.
Cross‑Team Collaboration: Work with global teams across India, Japan, and the US to align on testing goals and deliverables.
Required Skills
5–8+ years of hands‑on experience in test automation engineering.
Experience with modern UI automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
Strong foundational knowledge of storage technologies, such as block storage, object storage (S3‑compatible systems), NFS, or distributed file systems.
Knowledge of Hitachi products such as VSP 360, Ops Center will be an added advantage.
Solid understanding of RESTful API testing and automation.
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
Strong understanding of QA methodologies, SDLC, and agile practices (Scrum, Kanban).
Proficiency with Linux/UNIX environments and hands‑on experience with Docker or containerized test environments.
Familiarity with Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools (Terraform, Ansible) is a plus.
Exposure to storage technologies or virtualization environments is an advantage.
Excellent communication skills for cross‑team collaboration and documentation.
Ability to work effectively across multiple time zones.
Strong proficiency in at least one object‑oriented programming language (e.g., Java or Python) and one scripting language (JavaScript/TypeScript preferred).

ISTQB Test Automation Engineer certification
Jenkins Engineer Certification
Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
Any agile certification (CSPO, PSPO, ICP‑PO, SAFe POPM) is a plus
