QA backend Automation

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Testing Engineer with strong hands-on experience in automation tools and frameworks. The ideal candidate should have proficiency in Selenium, Java, and test automation practices, with a solid understanding of API testing, database testing, and Agile methodologies. The role focuses on designing, developing, and executing automation scripts to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Automation Development & Execution

• Design, develop, and maintain automation test scripts using Selenium WebDriver and Java.
• Perform functional, regression, API, and database testing to validate application quality.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with development teams for resolution.
• Execute automated test cases, analyze results, and report on test coverage and quality metrics.

2. Test Planning & Collaboration

• Review test cases, provide feedback, and continuously improve automation frameworks.
• Collaborate with QA, Development, and Product teams to ensure testing aligns with release schedules.
• Participate in Agile sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives for continuous process improvement.

3. Tooling & Process Enhancement

• Integrate automation with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
• Utilize AI-assisted tools like Copilot for coding and testing efficiencies.
• Follow best practices for automation, including code reviews, reusable scripts, and maintainability.

Required Skills & Experience

Core Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver (Java).
• Proficiency in SQL queries for backend and database testing.
• Knowledge of Cucumber, Gherkin syntax, and BDD practices.
• Experience with test automation frameworks such as TestNG and JUnit.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in automation testing.
• Prior experience with Selenium, Java, SQL, Cucumber, and BDD frameworks.
• Exposure to AI-assisted coding/testing tools like Copilot.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Day-to-Day Activities

• Write, maintain, and execute automated test cases.
• Troubleshoot and debug automation scripts to troubleshoot issues.
• Review and improve test cases and automation frameworks.
• Participate actively in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
