Position Summary

The IT Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst ensures testing efforts align with business objectives and project goals. Working closely with stakeholders, the analyst provides oversight and guidance on test case design, execution, and defect management. By tracking quality metrics and recommending improvements, the QA Analyst helps ensure the delivery of high-quality software that meets business needs. This role also provides project governance within Azure DevOps (ADO), delivers routine ADO training for new users, and assists the Test Automation Engineer with regression test setup as needed.
 

Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy and Planning

  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Partner with business analysts, developers, and test managers to ensure the overall test strategy aligns with business objectives and project goals.
  • Support Test Case Design: Review test cases and plans created by testers to ensure they adequately address business requirements. Provide guidance on comprehensive coverage of business-critical scenarios.
  • Provide Insights and Recommendations: Offer insights into whether test plans adequately cover necessary business scenarios, helping to ensure critical business areas are tested appropriately.

User Story, Test Case, and Test Execution Oversight

  • Review User Stories and Test Cases: Review user stories and test cases to ensure they are well-written, comprehensive, and focused on risk and requirement coverage.
  • Support Test Execution Monitoring: Monitor test execution to ensure it follows planned procedures and meets defined quality criteria.
  • Collaborate on Test Result Analysis: Collaborate in the analysis of test results, ensuring proper documentation of outcomes and identification of key trends.

Defect Management and Reporting

  • Oversee Defect Management Processes: Ensure defects are logged, tracked, and classified according to priority within established defect management workflows.
  • Participate in Root-Cause Analysis: Participate in root-cause analysis of defects, working with development and business teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
  • Report Test Results and Defect Trends: Report key test results and defect trends to stakeholders, providing insights for decision-making and process improvements.

Azure DevOps Governance and Training

  • Provide ADO Project Governance: Maintain standards and oversight within Azure DevOps, ensuring consistent use of work item types, boards, dashboards, and project structures across teams.
  • Deliver ADO Training: Conduct routine training sessions for new users on Azure DevOps workflows, best practices, and organizational standards.
  • Support Continuous ADO Adoption: Serve as a point of contact for ADO-related questions, promoting effective adoption and standardized usage across the organization.

Test Automation Support

  • Assist with Regression Test Setup: Support the Test Automation Engineer in configuring and setting up regression test suites, including test data preparation, environment validation, and test case organization.
  • Coordinate Regression Coverage: Help identify and prioritize test scenarios for regression coverage based on risk assessment and business impact.

Collaboration and Process Improvement

  • Collaborate to Ensure Testability: Work with developers and stakeholders to ensure testability is considered during development and requirements gathering.
  • Provide Feedback on Testing Processes: Identify areas for improvement and opportunities for automation within existing testing processes.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement: Champion continuous improvement in QA processes, supporting quality practices across the development lifecycle.

Metrics and Quality Assessment

  • Support KPI Definition and Tracking: Support the definition and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness and quality of testing efforts.
  • Analyze Test Results and Provide Insights: Analyze test results and generate reports, providing insights to inform continuous process and quality improvements.
  • Support Quality Scoring Systems: Support the implementation and maintenance of quality scoring systems to evaluate test effectiveness and overall project quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in auditing, compliance, or a similar oversight role, preferably within quality assurance or project management.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to assess processes for quality and compliance.
  • Prior experience in the Trucking or Logistics industries is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, including work item management, boards, pipelines, and test plans.
  • Familiarity with test automation concepts and regression testing methodologies.
  • Certification in software testing, auditing, or related frameworks (e.g., ISTQB, CISA, Six Sigma) is a plus.
