Tulip

QA Automation Engineer

Budapest, Hungary Full Time

About the Role

Tulip is expanding its QA capabilities in Budapest, and we’re looking for a QA Automation Engineer who will own and drive the next phase of our automation-first strategy.
This is not a maintenance role. You’ll be the primary technical contributor scaling our Cypress-based test automation framework, working closely with our QA Lead to elevate the maturity and visibility of quality across Tulip. You’ll begin by performing manual and exploratory testing to build deep product understanding, then progressively translate that expertise into robust, high-impact automated tests. Your work will relieve team pressure, strengthen release confidence, and accelerate engineering velocity.

About You

You bring strong experience in both QA and software engineering practices.
You’re detail-oriented, analytical, and relentlessly curious — always looking for root causes and long-term fixes.
You’re energized by improving processes, collaborating with engineers, and shaping a scalable automation culture.

What You’ll Do

  • Execute exploratory, regression, and manual tests on new features to support release readiness and build domain expertise.
  • Take ownership of Tulip’s E2E automation framework, expanding and maintaining Cypress + TypeScript test coverage.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) to deliver fast, reliable engineering feedback.
  • Mentor QA teammates by promoting automation best practices, conducting test plan reviews, and improving quality visibility.
  • Research and later implement solutions for load and performance testing to ensure system reliability at scale.

What You’ll Bring

Must-Haves

  • 4–7 years of QA experience with a balanced blend of manual testing and automation.
  • Hands-on expertise with Cypress and TypeScript/JavaScript automation frameworks.
  • Solid experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman) and ideally automating API tests.
  • Strong exploratory/manual testing skills for complex SaaS products.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience designing or implementing performance/load testing strategies.
  • Exposure to other automation frameworks (Playwright, Selenium) or languages (Python).
  • Interest in IoT technologies or embedded systems.

Key Collaborators

  • QA Team
  • Engineering Product Teams
  • Infrastructure Engineering Team
