What You Will Do:

Pratt and Whitney (P&W) is currently seeking a knowledgeable PW1100G-JM CTS Control Systems Engineer to join the NGPF Customer Technical Service Department's (CTS) team of highly skilled Engineers in East Hartford, CT to manage and resolve technical issues for PW1100G-JM hardware in order to ensure engine safety and to maintain competitive advantage relative to operational parameters such as Delays and Cancellations (D&C’s), In-Flight-Shut-Down (IFSD) rate, reduction of operator maintenance burden, etc. 

  • The CTS Controls Systems Engineer works directly with Airbus, operators, engine overhaul facilities, and their respective disciplines to be the link between commercial airline operators and the P&W technical community to ensure each has their needs met.

  • Understand and implement corrective action for engine related in-service events. Become the expert on controls hardware working with Collins, the OEM of components, and P&W groups reasonable for component integration onto the engine including the controlling software.

  • Drive investigation closure for engine operational events.  Provide closure reports to the customer, airframer and authorities in a timely manner when required.

  • Support Airlines to resolve Aircrafts on the Ground (AOGs) and coordinate resolution of service issues. Support MROs to resolve work-stops during engine shop visits. Coordinate resolution of production Quality Notifications (QNs)

  • Participate in Engineering Change Product Change & Incorporation Review (PCIR), Configuration Control Board (CCB), Integrated Program Management Team (IPMT), Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT), and Systems Integrated Product Team (SIPT) processes.

  • Work directly with airline customers and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) engine shops around the world that operate PW1100G-JM powered aircraft.

  • Provide guidance and recommendations regarding on wing and off wing operational troubleshooting and problem resolution, service bulletin retrofit activities and engine manual interpretation.

  • Other activities include participation in airline customer meetings, conferences, customer council calls as well as releasing all operator communication wires and Service Information Reports.

  • Initiate technical data development of Engineering Authorization (EA), Special Instructions and other documents for on wing and engine shop maintenance data for Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), and Engine Manual (EM) in support of airline customers.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering or related technical field with 8+years of engineering experience or 5+years with an advanced degree

  • U.S Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Familiarity with gas turbine controls system hardware, maintenance and operations.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
