Position Summary
The Purchaser II (Buyer) is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services required for precast concrete production and operations. This role works independently on routine purchasing tasks and supports senior procurement staff on complex or high-value contracts, ensuring cost efficiency, quality standards, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Procure raw materials such as cement, aggregates, admixtures, rebar, and embedded items for precast concrete production
Source and evaluate vendors to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and reliability
Involved with negotiations of pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules with suppliers
Issue purchase orders and track order status to ensure on-time delivery
Maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing excess stock and shortages
Collaborate with production, engineering, and project management teams to forecast material needs
Resolve supplier issues related to delays, quality concerns, or discrepancies
Analyze market trends and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities
Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, construction management, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
3–5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in construction materials or precast concrete manufacturing
Knowledge of precast materials, production processes, and supply chain logistics
Experience with ERP or procurement software systems
Solid negotiation and vendor management skills
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications (preferred)
