EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Temporary

CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting time for this position is currently 8:00 a.m.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under direction, assists the Public Works Wastewater Group with wastewater operation engineering activities. Provide support for asset management, condition assessment, inspections, O&M reports, design and construction projects, and other duties as assigned. This position will be working 37.5 hours per week from May - August.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with construction management and construction observation for various

large scale wastewater projects.

Assist with MCPWO engineering on design for various capital improvement

projects throughout the county.

Provide support for implementing a routine inspection program of all

underground infrastructure, including sewers, manholes, chambers, etc.

Inspection program will utilize existing MCPWO inspection equipment which

includes GoPro cameras and drones for confined space data collection.

Conduct inspections and organize inspection data, videos, maps, photos, and

written reports of inspections and results using department software and

applications such as Excel, SewerAI, NEXGEN, GoPro, and ArcGIS.

Meet with Public Works staff regularly to discuss strategies for inspections and

asset management.

Assist in any as-needed O&M tasks within the various wastewater collection

systems.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education and Experience

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or other related field

Required Licenses or Certifications 

  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license, operable automobile and insurance

  • ArcGIS Desktop and Online preferred with ability to download and operate GPS field applications

  • Interpret and work with maps/plans oriented towards natural resources, land use and development, and attention to detail in field data collection

  • Produce written reports with photos in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Docs
