Under general direction of the Senior & Social Services Manager, works in conjunction with the Bernalillo County Community Health Council Coordinator (BCCHC) to provide specialized education and training. Promotes, maintains, and improves community health—including for the indigent population—by identifying community health needs and encouraging healthy lifestyles. Mobilizes resources of the BCCHC, Bernalillo County, and the International District Healthy Communities Coalition to monitor community health and address priority health needs in the Southeast Heights International District.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY
- Plans, develops, and evaluates health education and training programs to identify community health issues, needs, and problems, including those affecting marginalized populations.
- Encourages community residents to develop and maintain community health projects, new community-based programs, workshops, and resources to identify and address barriers to health, especially social determinants of health, while promoting opportunities for civic engagement.
- Advocates for sustainable environments and collaborative processes where governmental and non-governmental sectors partner to create healthy public policies, promote high-level participation in community-driven initiatives, and reduce inequities and health disparities.
- Recruits, guides, and trains staff, interns, contractors, and/or volunteers, including facilitating engagement among students, residents, and community groups.
- Prepares policy, procedure, and program recommendations; develops reports, updates, and summaries in partnership with the Bernalillo County Community Health Council, UNM Health Sciences Center, and as requested by the County.
- Serves as a point of contact within the area of expertise.
- Attends, participates in, and coordinates meetings with the public, agencies, and other organizations; attends evening meetings as needed.
- Prepares and distributes educational information packets for dissemination to community residents and programs.
- Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Master Degree in Public Health or related field preferred
