Public Affairs Manager

Public Affairs Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic public and government affairs activities that support and promote the organization’s strategic goals while protecting its business interests. This role involves representing Auto Club Enterprises as a spokesperson with media, government agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders to influence policies and advocate for the organization’s positions. The manager creates and disseminates information through various public channels, including media releases, social media content, and events.

The manager also builds and maintains relationships with external partners such as governmental, educational, and business groups, participates in task forces and community safety events, and manages media and public events. They provide testimony, speeches, and correspondence on behalf of Auto Club Enterprises and collaborate with internal teams to support business lines, traffic safety initiatives, and special projects. Overseeing external consultants or lobbyists and analyzing media and stakeholder engagement to maximize communication impact are also key responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as sole media relations contact for all TV, radio, blog and newspaper interviews for entire state of Alabama on all relevant topics, including early morning, evening, weekend and holiday availability

  • Maintain statewide media database

  • Write and distribute press releases

  • Provides information to members and the public about services and issues related to AAA—travel, automotive, gas prices, driver education, traffic safety, etc.

  • Coordinates and directs all P.R. efforts for club

  • Serves as club spokesperson

  • Prepare various ACE public affairs reports and board updates

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Equivalent combination of education and experience in Public Relations, Marketing or Communication

  • 5-10 years Public relations experience.

  • Advanced written and verbal communications skills, along with organizational skills and time management skills required.

  • Advanced knowledge of public and media relations event planning.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred.

  • Must have ability to multi-task and to speak in front of groups and on live television.
