40Summary:
This Psychologist will work within The Jane and John Justin Institute for Mind Health at Cook Children’s. The psychologist will work collaboratively with department team(s) to provide care for pediatric patients and their families cared for within the Institute. Duties will include providing assessments, counseling, intervention, and treatment of pediatric patients with a range of both typical and atypical development and behavioral management of those conditions. The position may also administer, score, and interpret testing with the same patient populations.
The psychologist will assist with the development of the Institute's clinical protocols to ensure psychosocial aspects are addressed for the overall improvement of the patient’s care and experience. This position may also conduct relevant clinical research activities such as grant writing, research program development, study design, and statistical analysis within the Institute department(s), including cognitive/psychological testing required under clinical trial protocols.
Experience with ADHD, developmental delays, mood disorders, adjustment to chronic illness, and trauma-informed care is preferred. Understanding of the ecological, biological, genetic, and developmental factors that promote health across the lifespan is preferred. May be assigned to work with specialty populations or across several clinic locations.
Education & Experience
PhD or PsyD in Psychology with specialized training in pediatric psychology
Specialized training in pediatric health psychology and behavioral medicine preferred.
Expertise in the psychosocial aspects of disorders of the nervous system, including mental, behavioral, developmental, and neurological disorders, is preferred.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification
Licensed Psychologist in the state of Texas, or the ability to obtain. (will consider Provisional License if close to licensure).
American Heart Association CPR must be obtained prior to start.
