The Salvation Army Youth Services provides critical support to young people aged 12-25 who are facing a range of complex challenges, including comorbid mental health and substance use issues. We offer a safe space where young people can access psychological services and support.
About the role:
Are you a passionate mental health professional ready to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people? HeadFyrst is a pioneering mental health initiative operating across six headspace centres in South-Western and Western Sydney. We provide integrated, evidence-based psychological support tailored to the unique needs of young people. Our clinicians work collaboratively with medical and allied health professionals to deliver holistic and inclusive care in youth-friendly environments.
This is a Full-time, permanent position (38 hours a week) based in Campbelltown. Salary is in accordance with the Health Professionals and Support Services Award – Level 3.
How you will make an impact
Provide effective evidence-based psychological support and intervention to HEADFYRST clients aged 12-25 years.
Complete all screening/assessment and reporting obligations in a timely manner.
Maintain documentation, session records, reports, and data collection activities, utilising established mechanisms and procedures (SAMIS & NADAbase).
Ensure services are meeting key performance indicators and funding obligations.
Develop and monitor individual treatment plans.
Assess risk and effectively utilise risk management interventions, reporting and procedures.
Maintain continued professional development (CPD) activities.
Attend regular clinical supervision.
Adhere to the APS Code of Conduct/Ethics.
Adhere to the Salvation Army Code of Conduct.
Undertake ad hoc duties as requested by the Therapeutic Programs manager.
Demonstrate commitment to an environment that values continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of high-quality service provision.
Acquire and maintain knowledge of clinical referral and support options for clients.
Work collaboratively and professionally with other programs and services.
Work effectively within a team that fosters and empowers continuous improvement.
Demonstrate effective teamwork.
Attend regular team meetings and 1-2-1 meetings with line manager.
What you will bring
AHPRA Registered Psychologist/provisional psychologist with experience or equivalent
Minimum of Bachelors’ degree with honours and acceptance into a recognised psychologist registration pathway.
Demonstrated experience working clinically with youth aged 12 – 25 years
Demonstrated counselling skills and experience
Demonstrated experience working with youth
Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and ability to work with young people affected by issues such as drug & alcohol use, gambling, trauma, domestic violence, homelessness, anger, stress, unsafe coping behaviour, mental health presentations, and managing suicide risk
Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of Trauma Informed Care and Practice
Experience working with people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background.
Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds and religions.
Ability to develop and deliver psycho-educative mental health workshops to young people
Experience working with diverse populations.
Experience working in collaboration with other organizations.
A current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Driver’s LicenceStrong computer and data management skills
