Raytheon is seeking a Prototype Machinist / Tool and Die Maker to support our internal Prototype Machine Shop.  This position is part of a small team that provides prototype machining services and solutions to Raytheon’s internal engineering groups and labs.

This role performs all aspects of the prototype and conventional machine shop, including machine and job setup, fixture design and fabrication, manual machining, CNC machining and programming, part modifications, rework & repair, hand finishing and other general shop activities.

*1st Shift – 6:00AM – 3:30PM (9/80 schedule) – El Segundo, CA. This is an onsite role*

What you will do

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machines, surface grinders, waterjet cutter.
  • Make or rework parts from: drawings, sketches and CAD models
  • Rework or repair damaged or nonconforming parts.
  • Work with engineering personnel on problems, producibility, material selection, designs and requirements.
  • Work with engineering teams to produce the best solutions.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience performing conventional or manual machining.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Technical school certificate or equivalent.
  • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in prototype machining, tool & die making or manual machining.
  • Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Experience with working with high value or irreplaceable parts.
  • CNC Programming experience (MasterCAM, Gcode)
  • CAD/CAM design experience
  • Pride of workmanship, craftsmanship and quality work.
  • Fabrication and welding experience.

  • The hourly range for this role is $27.23 to $45.78. The hourly range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

This position is part of a collective bargaining agreement. Wage and workplace conditions, including shift times, are subject to this agreement. Individuals hired into this position will be represented by a union.
