Encova Insurance is seeking a Property Claims Analyst. This role will have the option to work a home-based schedule, but you must reside in Ohio.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

This role will support the effectiveness, consistency, and quality of the property claims organization through administration of the Property Claims Quality Assurance (QA) Program and oversight of the appraisal process. Conduct file reviews and quality scoring for all property claims associates, identify trends and training opportunities, and partner with claims leadership to ensure claims programs, metrics, and reporting align with organizational and regulatory requirements. Serve as the primary point of contact for all property claims involving the appraisal process, ensuring compliance with appraisal best practices and monitoring outcomes and vendor performance. Additionally, lead the water mitigation program by reviewing estimates, providing information to support negotiation of remediation, and helping to verify that the company pays what is owed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Administer and execute the Property Claims Quality Assurance Program, including conducting regular and file reviews for all property claims associates.
  • Review, score, and document claim file quality in accordance with established QA standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze QA results to identify trends, root causes, and systemic issues across the property claims organization.
  • Partner with claims managers and leadership to communicate QA findings, recommend corrective actions, and prioritize targeted training and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure property claims programs, workflows, and documentation practices align with internal reporting needs, regulatory requirements, and management metrics.
  • Monitor appraisal claims to ensure handling is consistent with company appraisal best practices, policy provisions, and procedural guidelines.  Provide guidance to claims associates and managers regarding findings.
  • Track, analyze, and document appraisal outcomes, including frequency, resolution timelines, settlement variances, and overall effectiveness.
  • Maintain and report on appraisal-related data to support leadership decision-making, vendor management, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance of defense counsel, appraisal panel members, and umpires involved in the appraisal process, including adherence to guidelines, timeliness, and outcome quality.
  • Collaborate with claims leadership, legal, and vendor management partners to support improvements in appraisal outcomes and dispute resolution strategies.
  • Review and evaluate water mitigation estimates to ensure accuracy, proper scope and compliance with industry standards leveraging IICRC certification and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other adjusters to accurately assess water mitigation needs and confirm that mitigation work is necessary, reasonable, and completed to standards.
  • Identify suspicious findings during water mitigation reviews and promptly refer cases to SIU as appropriate.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all reviewed mitigation files, including detailed records of dollar amount reductions, and prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly reports for management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all property claims involving the appraisal process.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain awareness of regulatory, legal, and industry developments impacting property claims quality and dispute resolution practices.
  • Participate in claims training initiatives related to quality standards, appraisal handling, and best practices.
  • Assist with development, maintenance, and refinement of QA standards, scoring methodologies, and reporting tools.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing QA findings, appraisal trends, and performance metrics.
  • Stay current on water mitigation trends and regulatory changes affecting claim handling.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development, particularly in water mitigation and fraud detection.
  • Support SIU investigations by providing timely and accurate information related to mitigation reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience in insurance, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in property claims handling, claims auditing, quality assurance, or claims analysis strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of personal and commercial property policies, coverages, and claims handling best practices.
  • Understanding of the property claims appraisal process, including policy provisions, timelines, and roles of appraisers and umpires.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, assess performance, and translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong investigative skills for collaborating with adjusters, vendors and SIU personnel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings clearly to claims leadership.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively while ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  • Understanding of claims systems, reporting tools, and data analysis applications.
  • Professional insurance designations such as AIC, CPCU, or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure in applicable states, if required.
  • Understanding of water mitigation processes, IICRC standards, and the ability to interpret and validate mitigation estimates.
  • Proficiency in maintaining detailed records and generating accurate reports on mitigation review outcomes and cost savings.
