Job Summary

A Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance Agent identifies prospects, and sells insurance policies—such as auto, home, and commercial coverage—to protect clients from financial loss. Agents assess client needs, calculate risks, and provide customized quotes to meet monthly sales targets. A valid state P&C license is required. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Generating new business by employing successful sales-based marketing strategies such as cold calling, networking, and following up on leads to secure new clients.

  • Meet with new, existing, and prospective policyholders and actively listen to their needs to properly assess their circumstances and financial status before proposing ideal plan options.

  • Structure personalized insurance policies (auto, homeowners, commercial).

  • Manage renewals, explain policy nuances, and assist with the initial stages of the claims process.

  • Ensure that existing, new, and prospective clients complete all appropriate forms and meet insurance policy requirements, and facilitate the insurance claims process, which may include examining the condition of physical properties to assess risks.

  • Maintain accurate electronic records and documentation in agency management systems. 

  • Commit to a continued education in property & casualty insurance protocols and coverage requirements to ensure the ideal types of insurance policies are offered to existing clients, potential clients, and new customers

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Active Property & Casualty insurance license (or ability to obtain one).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication for explaining complex coverage to clients.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred).

  • Proficiency with CRM software, MS Office, and ability to learn rating tools.

  • Results-driven, persuasive, organized, and confident.
