About the Role

Reporting to the Vice President of Real Estate Operations, the Properties Repair and Maintenance Facilitator, is primarily responsible for obtaining, assessing and reviewing repair and maintenance requests submitted by store managers and arranging for repairs through the appropriate vendor within spending guidelines.  You will manage the repair process and ensure maintenance and repairs are completed in an efficient and timely manner while achieving the most competitive quotes. Assessing if the repair and maintenance request is the companies responsibility, the landlords responsibility or an insurance claim is also important.  All repairs authorized will go through the defined company spending policies and procedures.

Role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing repair and maintenance issues submitted by store managers and assess the urgency and the most cost efficient way to complete the repair.
  • Tender quotes where applicable and contact the appropriate vendor and issue a PO for repair.
  • Report all major emergency repairs per the policies and procedures outlined for the role.
  • Review all major repairs per the policies and procedures and initiate the approval process.
  • Follow the repair process and update issues as they are moved from Pending to Actioned to Closed.
  • Review quarterly repair and maintenance spending with the President of liquor, President of Cannabis and the Vice President of Real Estate Operations.
  • Respond to weekend or after hours large emergencies.

Experience and Qualifications

  • High school diploma required at a minimum.
  • Minimum, 10 plus years working in the Commercial Retail Unit (CRU) repair and maintenance industry in a management capacity
  • Must be able to pass a basic criminal record check.
  • Must have basic understanding of plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, HVAC repairs, etc in order to obtain the best prices and assess the reasonableness of the repair quotes and urgency.

  • Commitment to the job and an understanding of how this role functions within the Real Estate Operations departments.
  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to recognize opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere as well as independently.
  • Attention to customer service and willingness to support the team where needed, even if a request is outside of normal job duties on occasion.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes professionally, in keeping with the needs of our growing company.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with various team members.
  • Problem identification and problem resolution skill.
