Our Merchandise team works with supplier partners and store teams on category ranging, buying, pricing and promotions so we can get the right products on the right shelves at the right time for our customers!
Te Tūranga – About the role
Join us in shaping the future of promotions across Four Square, New World, and PAK’nSAVE!
You’ll combine data-driven insights, strong stakeholder relationships, and streamlined processes to ensure our promotional programme delivers real value for customers, stores, and the wider business.
You’ll be part of the Merchandise Operations & Analytics team, driving improvements focused on how we plan, execute, and optimise our weekly promotional cycle.
As a leader, you’ll guide a small team of analysts and collaborate across multiple functions to keep the customer at the heart of everything we do.
From leveraging analytics to enhance decision-making, to embedding automation and continuous improvement, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping smarter, more efficient ways of working that benefit both today’s and tomorrow’s shoppers.
What you’ll do:
Lead the weekly promotional cycle from planning through execution, partnering with Category, Supply Chain, Marketing, and banner teams.
Coach and develop a team of four, ensuring strong delivery and supporting their growth & development.
Use data and insights to improve promotional selection, execution, and efficiency.
Build strong relationships across the business, bringing people together to solve problems and keep customers front and centre.
Drive continuous improvement, simplifying processes and embedding automation to lift performance.

We’re looking for someone who’s pragmatic, curious, and driven to make things better — always with the customer front of mind.
You’ll thrive on solving problems, thinking laterally, and turning insights into clear, actionable outcomes. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and can juggle multiple priorities without losing sight of the details, this could be the perfect role for you.

Building strong relationships across teams, communicating with clarity and confidence, and bringing people together to deliver great results is what you're all about. Your inquisitive nature and resilience will help you navigate evolving priorities, while your passion for continuous improvement ensures we’re always lifting performance.
You’ll bring at least five years’ experience in Merchandise Operations, Supply Chain, or data-driven roles within medium to large enterprises — ideally in retail or a customer-focused organisation. You’ll be confident working with large datasets, experience using Power BI, and have advanced Excel skills.
