Role Title: Project & Program Management - Futures Technical Project Support
Role Description: Based out of the Collaborative and Autonomous Systems Project Office (CASPO) at RAAFBASE Amberley. This position operates under limited direction to deliver complex technical project management and integration tasks within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team. The role supports AIR6015 Futures activities, with a strong emphasis on advanced technology domains including electronic warfare, softwaredefined systems, and autonomous aviation capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
• Apply technical expertise gained from roles related to one or more of the following areas to support capability development and integration:
o Electronic warfare / EMS
o Software-defined electronic systems
o RF/IR sensors and MFA/AESA radar systems
o Agile software development
o Autonomous systems and artificial intelligence
o Secure communications, cryptographic networks
o Uncrewed systems such as MQ-4C, MQ-9A
o Crewed platforms such as E-7A, P-8A
• Lead planning and scheduling of complex technical work packages aligned to capability milestones and system development pathways
• Support development of innovative, non-traditional procurement strategies and contribute to key project documentation and controls
• Liaise with stakeholders across CASPO, ACS Branch, AFHQ, DSTG, US DoD agencies, and industry to ensure alignment with technical and acquisition objectives
• Develop and maintain integrated schedules in OPP, incorporating technical dependencies, risks, and constraints
• Produce standardised artefacts covering scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resource planning to support baseline management
• Conduct schedule assurance activities and provide variance analysis and recovery advice to Project Managers
• Support workforce capability uplift through coaching in project controls and risk-based decision-making
• Contribute to CASG Project Controls community and continuous improvement initiative
Essential Requirements:
• Demonstrated project management experience in complex Defence or aviation environments
• Technical background in one or more of the following:
• Electronic warfare / EMS
• Software-defined electronic systems
• RF/IR sensors, MFA/AESA radar systems
• Autonomous systems, AI, secure communications, cryptographic networks
• Defence uncrewed and crewed ISR systems
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within integrated teams.
• Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling tools, and risk management frameworks.
• High-level communication, stakeholder engagement and adaptability
• Strong commercial acumen and experience in cooperative projects with the United States
• Compliance with Acquisition and Sustainment Procurement Reform, ERP, and NDS requirements.
• Timely receipt of activity progress updates from project stakeholders.
• On-time delivery of enabling inputs from ACS Branch.
• Integration of external schedules into Defence-specific formats and frameworks
• On-site presence at Amberley is required to support integrated team operations
• Interstate travel may be necessary for stakeholder engagement, site visits, or technical coordination
Required Security Clearance Level: - NV1 Security Clearance (PV highly desirable)
Location: - RAAF Base Amberley (near Ipswich)
Weekly Hours: - Monday to Friday / 40 hours per week
