The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $27.34 to $32.00.

This position is non-exempt under the FLSA.

The Project Specialist provides specialized support in the coordination of special projects designed and administered for system improvements, enhanced youth outcomes and increased inter-agency cooperation.

Position Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Justice Studies, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field

Experience:

One year of experience in coordinating and administering public programs and services. 

OR

Combined Education and Experience Qualifications:

An equivalent combination of education and job-related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis

Other Requirements:

A valid, unrestricted Arizona Driver License

Our Preferred Candidate Has:

Experience working with justice involved youth populations and or youth-based programs (JDO, JSO, Case Manager, JPO, Education).

Essential Job Tasks

(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Work under the direction of the Administrative Services Bureau Project Senior Lead to implement and roll out special projects department-wide.  
  • Provide direct project/program support to all bureau Senior Leads. 
  • Create project/program sustainability plans and special project road maps. 
  • Provide 1:1 and or group trainings and presentations on special projects to JPD staff and leadership team. 
  • Prepares team(s) to take on primary responsibility of special projects once they can be incorporated into the routine business practice of the unit. 
  • Prepares daily/monthly and aggregated reports related to areas of responsibility. 
  • Serve as a project liaison between JPD and external stakeholders when applicable and report on program data/outcomes when necessary.  
  • Administers large and small recognized programs while under development. 
  • Compiles information and resources, perform studies, and research projects as they relate to department needs.  
  • Coordinates cooperative activities with local, state, and national organizations. 
  • Participates in the development and implementation of departmental-goals, policies, and procedures. 

Working Conditions:  

May work in and from various Juvenile Probation and Detention Facilities, community partner locations and other juvenile serving agencies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away; sit for long periods of time; stand, walk, use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally push, pull or lift up to 20 pounds.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan. Judicial Branch facilities are located throughout Maricopa County.  This position may be reassigned to other locations.  Assignments will be made based upon the needs of the department.
