Position Summary:

The Division of Research at Florida Atlantic University is seeking a part-time Project Manager, Veteran Canine Rescue Mission (VCRM) in Boca Raton, FL.

This administrative role plays a critical part in advancing interdisciplinary research, education, and practice protocols for veterans. In collaboration with the Director/Associate Director of C‑P.A.W.W., the Project Manager will participate in the overall strategic planning, goal and objective setting for the Veteran Canine Rescue Mission (VCRM), as well as work closely with the Humane Society of Broward County (HSBC) manager and the programmatic team to ensure an effective organizational structure.

In collaboration with the Director/Associate Director of C-P.A.W.W., the Project Manager will participate in the overall strategic planning and goal/objective setting of the Veteran Canine Rescue Mission (VCRM). This role will handle logistics and oversight of all operations, including canine trainers, budgetary tasks and monitoring, project web and social media and community outreach, veteran participant recruitment and enrollment, as well as data collection.

The research mission of C‑P.A.W.W. is to support veterans by developing evidence‑based and restorative programs, strengthening military‑related health initiatives through community partnerships, and studying therapeutic approaches—especially canine‑assisted interventions—that improve health outcomes. The mission also focuses on system planning, innovative public policy, and the development of strong care protocols for the armed forces. C-P.A.W.W. | Florida Atlantic University

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day project operations by coordinating tasks, tracking timelines, and ensuring deliverables are completed on schedule.

  • Assist in preparing and monitoring project budgets, including tracking expenses and maintaining accurate financial records.

  • Maintain project schedules and documentation while supporting regular communication and status updates with the C-P.A.W.W. team and stakeholders.

  • Recruit, train, and supervise research assistants.

  • Support the planning and execution of community events and educational programs, including logistics coordination and participant engagement.

  • Develop and coordinate the distribution of educational materials to the University and community-at-large regarding the project.

  • Engaged in grant writing, publications, and presentations.

  • Coordinate research-related tasks such as participant recruitment, enrollment, data collection using REDCap, and data management to support project timelines and deliverables.

  • Assist with grant writing/document editing/creation.

  • Assist with manuscript preparation (including proficiency with a reference manager program).

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization required.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear correspondence and to communicate effectively with faculty, staff and other stakeholders.

Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet established deadlines.

High level of attention to detail and accuracy, with experience maintaining records, preparing reports and managing data in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced academic or administrative environment, exercising sound judgment and professionalism.


Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Experience supporting research or grant funded projects, including coordinating timelines, tracking deliverables, and maintaining required documentation.

Working knowledge of research administration practices, including compliance requirements, reporting obligations, and applicable institutional or sponsor guidelines.

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), with the ability to use software tools effectively for documentation, data tracking, scheduling, and communication; experience with academic or research management systems preferred.

Salary:

$25.00 - $30.00 hourly.

Monday - Friday, part time between the hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., with the ability to work nights and weekends as needed for special events.
