We are looking for a Project Manager to join the team!
In this role, you will lead complex engineering and infrastructure projects that support world-class scientific research, working closely with project leaders, scientists, and multidisciplinary technical teams from concept through to installation.

BASIC FUNCTION:
The position is responsible for the management of projects following the TRIUMF processes such as TSOP-15 working with the Project Leaders/Scientists to manage schedule, budget and risk. These projects typically involve developing concepts, design, manufacture, procurement, installation of new infrastructure and equipment to support scientific research. Projects may have a civil construction element but are typically custom, specialized engineering design and assembly of mechanical systems.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
The position reports to the Director of Project Management and will work closely with Project Leader(s) and Sponsor(s) to manage the delivery of multiple projects.
This is a "hands-on" leadership role in a dynamic environment, requiring the project manager to interact daily with leaders and team members such as physicists, engineers, designers, and technicians to devise plans, make key decisions, and solve problems. You will apply project management best practices and the TRIUMF project governance process to achieve project objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Principal responsibilities:
Managing project schedule, budget, scope and risk
Working closely with sub-project leaders and project team members to maintain the schedule and pro-actively identify schedule risks and resolve issues
Work closely with project leaders and the project accountant to manage project budget
Identify and manage project risk
Ensure TRIUMF processes are followed for design in accordance with applicable standards such as EGBC and N286
Work with other TRIUMF stakeholders and service groups to manage project resources, tasks and priorities
Developing and maintaining project management documents required for successful project completion that abide by TRIUMF project governance process
Reporting progress periodically at review meetings to project leadership, TRIUMF management and external stakeholders
Participate in ongoing development and improvement of PMO processes and procedures by sharing best practices and experience.
Assist with other TRIUMF project management office activities and responsibilities as required
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
The position requires:
Experience on complex multi-year, multi-million dollar project(s)
Strong abilities in project planning, executing, monitoring and control; building and managing complex task logic;
Demonstrated leadership and problem solving skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with team members and stakeholders to lead multi-disciplinary teams
Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a sense of collaboration and teamwork
Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Excel
Sound technical and management judgement, with a high attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and balance multiple project activities
NUCLEAR ENERGY WORKER:
The position may require the incumbent to be trained and designated as a TRIUMF NEW. TRIUMF will provide training for the successful candidate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
A university degree in Science or Engineering or related discipline
At least 3-5 years of project management experience with demonstrated results leading complex engineering projects
PMP
PEng (Preferred)
Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).
