They have primary responsibility for coordinating the activities of team members, driving project goals, and ensuring proactive, open communication about project status. They ensure that projects are completed to specification, within an established time frame and budget.
Manage technical projects related to the company’s product development and product lifecycle management phases
Manage multiple projects concurrently, both minor and major
Serve as project management subject matter expert for product development lifecycle, capable of applying technical and development expertise to estimate project requirements, consult on project goals, and influence development decisions
Work with the product/project management group and technical leadership to determine and define project goals and set resource plans for projects during planning phase. Ensure goals and resources is actively updated and managed throughout the project cycle
Define and develop clear deliverables, roles and responsibilities, and oversee the daily tasks of assigned technical project team personnel while ensuring all team members are actively working toward established milestones
Hold regular technical project team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects
Produce periodic, written reporting of technical project status, key performance indicators (KPI’s) measurements, issues identification and action plans for resolution, and lessons learned.
Proactively communicate issues impacting project status, challenges (including resource conflicts), and needs to product/project management group and technical leadership
Partners with the Program Manager to assess program impact due to technical tradeoffs. Partners with the Product Manager to assess product outcome impact due to technical tradeoffs.
Oversee quality control throughout the project's life cycle
Participate in regular meetings with the Technical, Operations, Customer, and leadership team to review project schedules
Escalate issues to executive management as required to maintain program deliverables per plan
Identify gaps in new product introduction process and make recommendations as required
Additional indirect but related assignments from the supervisor
Direct experience in software or control systems product design and development, preferably in electric power conversion and energy storage industry.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan and complete work on tight deadlines and budgets; ability to work in an atmosphere of multiple simultaneous projects; ability to balance and re-align projects to shifting priorities.
Experience with software (agile) product development and scrum approach to development.
Strong organizing skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with professional and technical staff, manufacturing and operations staff, third-party partners, and customer-facing department members.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong professional presentation skills and the ability to develop effective presentation content for stakeholder communications.
Advanced skills in applications including but not limited to, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project.
Ability to keep project team members accountable for quality and schedule deliverables in a matrixed organization.
An understanding of how to manage and balance product costs, features, and development/launch schedules.
A passion for solving complex problems with creative, innovative, elegant solutions.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or similar discipline required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience.
Software development as a programmer, engineer, or project manager with a minimum of 5 years’ total experience.
Experience working the full product development cycle, from concept development to production launch.
PMP (or similar) certification from an accredited institution is an advantage.
Experience managing projects coordinating cross-functional teams in a design to manufacturing environment.
Local Travel
Overnight/North America Travel: 10-25%
Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Factory - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Customer/Partner Locations – Employee may visit customer or partner locations that may be comprised of office, manufacturing floor, laboratory environments and construction sites depending on the location and reason for visit.
