Demand Manager Technology & Solutions (Project Manager NPI)

Are you ready to join an impactful procurement team and shape the future of our product portfolio? Do you enjoy working within multidisciplinary and international teams? Do you get energy from managing projects and working towards a common goal? If the answer is 'yes', this role is for you.

At Vanderlande, we are shaping the future of automated material handling systems for leading global brands, including customers like Amazon, and we need a Project Manager NPI to lead the way in our Distribution domain.

What Will You Be Doing

As a Project Manager NPI, you are involved early in new product developments and improvements. You are part of a multidisciplinary project team where Commerce, Technology, Engineering, Service, and other departments are represented. Together, you manage new product developments, improvements, and phase-outs, ensuring they meet all requirements.

You will lead a multidisciplinary procurement team, consisting of Quality, Logistics, Sourcing, and Cost Engineering, and align with the development and maintenance organization (R&D). You ensure procurement is represented in key decisions on core/non-core and make-buy, and safeguard that equipment is set up in our supply chain in line with reliability, flexibility, and competitiveness requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Supply Chain Integration: Drive product developments and improvements from a supply chain perspective across all lifecycle stages—introduction, modification, reallocation, and phase-out.
  • Manage Multidisciplinary Teams: Create and motivate cross-functional teams (Quality, Logistics, Sourcing, Cost Engineering) to achieve industrialization targets under challenging timelines.
  • Early Supplier Involvement: Apply concurrent engineering principles to ensure manufacturability and timely delivery.
  • Optimize Processes: Assess (supplier) process flows, identify bottlenecks, and implement creative solutions to mitigate risks and improve efficiency.
  • Strategic Decision-Making: Represent Procurement in project teams, challenge R&D on design choices, and ensure alignment with sourcing strategies for technology, suppliers, and components.
  • Stakeholder Management: Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, reporting project status and escalation actions when needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Define and execute process and tooling improvements within development and QLTC teams.

What Do We Ask of You

  • Experience:
    • Proven track record in project management and leading cross-functional teams
    • Strong stakeholder management: effectively engage and align internal and external stakeholders at operational and executive levels
    • Demonstrated ability to anticipate risks, identify potential bottlenecks early, and implement preventive measures to ensure smooth project execution
    • Preferred: Background in Supply Chain Management or Technical domains (such as R&D or Technology), enabling you to understand supply chain risks and setups and/or challenging designs

  • Skills & Competencies
    • Results-oriented, decisive, and proactive with an entrepreneurial mindset
    • Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus)
    • Natural leadership qualities combined with strong business sense
    • Ability to organize and drive cross-functional collaboration
    • Coaching and mentoring capabilities to develop team members
    • Continuous improvement mindset; takes initiative to optimize processes and outcomes
