Job Expectations

Build your career and Australia’s future.

Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.

A fantastic opportunity at nbn, Australia’s largest infrastructure project, as the Project Manager, reporting to the Executive Manager, Program Delivery, where you will join the Regional Strategy, Programmes and Infrastructure, a key pillar within the Regional Development & Engagement business unit.

A bit about your role

The purpose of Regional Development & Engagement (RDE) in nbn is to build the digital capability and digital economy of regional and remote Australia. A critical success factor in achieving the business unit’s objectives is being truly customer-led in everything we do. This requires driving major transformational change across the organisation, focussed on Customer Experience. To drive this change, RDE must have its ear to the ground, ensuring customer needs are well understood and decisions made across RDE are meeting those needs, while delivering business outcomes and that these decisions align with RDE’s strategy and have support from all stakeholders, from internal teams, to ExCo and the Board, to Government and Regulators.

The Project Manager plays a key role in successfully delivering projects from concept through to approval and execution, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time, within scope and budget.

Working closely with Program and Senior Project Managers, the role navigates complex, multi-stream environments across technical, operational and regulatory domains, while providing strong internal service to business stakeholders.

The role requires effective planning, stakeholder influence, virtual team leadership, and mentoring, along with contributing to the continuous improvement of project and program management practices.

A bit about you

The role requires a certified and experienced Project Manager with a strong background in delivering complex, cross‑functional projects within large, technology‑driven organisations, ideally in the telecommunications sector.

The ideal candidate brings at least four years of recent project or program management experience, tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, and a deep understanding of project management frameworks, product development lifecycles, and scheduling and reporting tools.

Success in the role depends on strong stakeholder engagement, clear communication with senior leaders, commercial and analytical acumen, and the ability to lead virtual teams through complexity and ambiguity.

A collaborative, safety‑focused, and positive team player, the Project Manager is expected to adopt disciplined, process‑driven delivery approaches while actively contributing to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and high‑quality business outcomes.
