Job Title: Project Manager – Construction Services

Job Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the on‑site construction of two observatory domes located at the summit of Haleakalā. This role serves as the primary on‑site representative, ensuring construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. The Project Manager works closely with subcontractors performing the physical construction, provides day‑to‑day oversight, and ensures compliance with project schedules, quality standards, and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on‑site Project Manager for the construction of two observatory domes at the Haleakalā summit.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the organization and all construction subcontractors performing the work.
  • Oversee daily construction activities, monitor progress, and ensure work is performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate subcontractor schedules, sequencing of work, and site logistics to maintain project timelines.
  • Identify and resolve on‑site issues, including constructability concerns, scheduling conflicts, and field changes, in collaboration with engineering and management teams.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify quality of workmanship and adherence to project standards.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, particularly those associated with working at a high‑altitude, remote location.
  • Track progress against milestones and provide routine status updates to project leadership
  •  Review subcontractor deliverables, field reports, and work completion status.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch list resolution, documentation collection, and final inspections.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing on‑site construction activities and coordinating subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, schedules, and field execution.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, high‑altitude environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage priorities, resolve issues, and make sound field decisions.
  • An active Secret clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting construction related to scientific, observatory, or specialized facilities.
  • Previous work in remote or environmentally sensitive locations.
  • Familiarity with safety and compliance requirements for large construction projects.

Work Environment:

  • This position is primarily on site at the Haleakalā summit and requires regular presence in an active construction environment. The role involves coordination with multiple subcontractors and stakeholders in a challenging, high altitude location.

Compensation:

  • For Hawaii only, the salary range for this position is approximately $151,000 - $180,000. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Other Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
